Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 2026 · klipworm.online
The Short Version
Your video files never leave your device.Klipworm processes everything locally in your browser using WebAssembly and WebGL. We don't upload your footage, we don't train AI on your content, and we don't sell your data. We collect only basic analytics and account info (if you sign up) to run the service.
1Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Klipworm ("we", "us", or "our"), operated at klipworm.online, collects, uses, and protects information in connection with your use of the Klipworm website and browser-based video editor (the "Service").
We have designed Klipworm with privacy at its core. The editor runs entirely inside your browser. Your video clips, audio files, and images are never uploaded to our servers — they are loaded directly from your device into your browser's sandboxed memory, processed locally using browser APIs (WebAssembly, WebGL, Web Audio API, and IndexedDB), and stored on your own device.
By using Klipworm, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service.
2Information We Do Not Collect — Your Media Files
Klipworm does not upload, transmit, store, or process your video files, audio recordings, or images on any server we own or operate. When you import media into the editor, those files are read directly by your browser and stored in your browser's local IndexedDB database — a secure storage area on your own device governed by your operating system's file security.
Your project timeline, cut decisions, caption data, and export settings are saved to your browser's localStorage. These remain on your device. We do not have access to any of this data.
Because all media processing happens locally, we do not receive any portion of your footage, even incidentally. We cannot view your clips, read your captions, or access your project in any way.
3Information We Collect Automatically
When you visit klipworm.online, our hosting infrastructure and analytics tools may automatically collect certain technical data, including:
• Your IP address (used to determine approximate geographic region and to prevent abuse) • Browser type, version, and operating system • The pages of our website you visit and the time spent on each page • Referring website URL (the site you came from before visiting Klipworm) • Device type (desktop, tablet, or mobile) • Error logs and crash reports when the editor encounters a browser-level failure
This data is collected in aggregate form to help us understand how people use the Service, diagnose technical problems, and improve the product. It is not used to identify you as an individual, and it is not linked to any media files you create or edit in the editor.
4Account Information
Klipworm currently offers an optional account system powered by Supabase. If you choose to create an account, we collect:
• Your email address (used for account authentication and service communications) • A hashed password (we never store your password in plain text) • Account creation timestamp • Any profile information you optionally provide
Creating an account is not required to use the editor. You can access the full video editing workspace as a guest without providing any personal information.
If you are a registered user, your account data is stored securely in a Supabase-managed database. Supabase is a third-party infrastructure provider operating under its own privacy and security practices. See supabase.com/privacy for details.
5Cookies and Local Storage
Klipworm uses the following browser storage mechanisms:
• localStorage: Used to save your project metadata, editor preferences (aspect ratio, timeline settings), and session state. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us. • IndexedDB: Used to persist imported media blobs associated with your saved projects. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us. • Cookies: We may set session cookies for authentication purposes if you are logged in. We may also use analytics cookies (see Section 6) and advertising cookies (see Section 7).
You can clear all locally stored data at any time by clearing your browser's site data for klipworm.online. Doing so will delete all saved projects and media from your browser storage.
6Analytics
We use analytics tools to understand how the Service is used, which features are popular, and where users encounter problems. These tools may set cookies and collect anonymised interaction data such as page views, button clicks, and session durations.
Analytics data is aggregated and anonymised. It is not linked to your identity or to any media files you work with in the editor. We use this data exclusively to improve the Service.
If you prefer not to be tracked by analytics scripts, you may use a browser extension such as uBlock Origin or enable your browser's "Do Not Track" signal. We honor DNT signals where technically feasible.
7Advertising
Klipworm may display advertisements on marketing pages, blog posts, and tool information pages. We do not display advertisements inside the active video editor workspace.
Advertising networks may use cookies and device identifiers to serve relevant ads. These cookies are set by third-party advertising providers operating under their own privacy policies. We do not control the data collected by these networks.
We do not share any media you create or edit in Klipworm with advertising networks. Because your media never reaches our servers, it cannot be used for ad targeting.
You may opt out of interest-based advertising by visiting the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out portal at optout.aboutads.info or the Network Advertising Initiative at optout.networkadvertising.org.
8Third-Party Services
Klipworm integrates with or links to the following categories of third-party services:
• Infrastructure & Hosting: We use cloud hosting providers to serve the Klipworm web application. These providers process your IP address and browser metadata for the purpose of delivering pages. • Authentication & Database: If you create an account, your account data is stored via Supabase (supabase.com). Supabase operates its own privacy and security infrastructure. • Analytics: Aggregated usage analytics may be processed by third-party analytics platforms. • Advertising: Marketing pages may include scripts from advertising networks that set their own cookies. • AI Captioning: The speech-to-text model used for automatic captions runs entirely locally in your browser. It does not call any external API. Your audio is never transmitted to any server for transcription.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party for their own marketing or commercial purposes.
9Data Retention and Deletion
Media files and project data: Since all media and project data is stored locally in your browser, you control its retention. You can delete projects from within the editor, or clear all stored data by clearing browser site data for klipworm.online.
Account data: If you created a Klipworm account, we retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account by emailing us at the contact address listed in Section 12. We will delete your account and associated data within 30 days of a verified request.
Analytics and log data: Automatically collected technical data (IP addresses, page views, error logs) is retained for up to 12 months and then deleted or anonymised.
10Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete that information.
11Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
• Right to access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. • Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data. • Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten"). • Right to restriction: Request that we limit how we process your data. • Right to data portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format. • Right to object: Object to our processing of your personal data for certain purposes.
Because Klipworm stores most data locally on your device, many of these rights are already exercisable directly by you — you can delete local data instantly through your browser settings. For account-related requests, please contact us using the address in Section 12.
12Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify registered users by email.
Your continued use of the Service after the updated Privacy Policy is posted constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, you can reach us at: legal@klipworm.online or through our contact page at klipworm.online/contact.
